What happens after you submit
  1. You tell us what you see and the ZIP
Three short steps, about a minute.

  2. A call to schedule the visit
A foundation specialist calls you to set a time that suits you.

  3. The visit: measurements, not a pitch
Usually a walk-around, crack mapping and floor-level readings.

  4. Ask for the findings in writing
They are yours to keep. "No repair needed" is a good outcome too.

Before the visit, photograph these

Dated photos turn "it's been there a while" into evidence: they show whether a crack is growing, and they back up any later warranty claim.

Cracks running from door and window corners. Photograph them with a tape measure across, and pencil the date at both ends.
Door latch bolt sitting higher than the metal strike plate, with scuff marks on the plate
A latch that no longer meets its strike plate. Note which doors stick, and in which months.

Stair-step cracks in the brick outside. Photograph the whole run, then each end up close.

What the visit usually involves

Measurements, not a pitch. If the readings say normal settling, that is the answer you want.

  1. Inspector's field kit on graph paper: crack-width gauge card, spirit level, tape measure, pencils and notebook

Walk-around and crack mappingA gauge card for width, a level, a tape and a notebook: each crack gets a width, a direction and a date.

  2. Gloved hand holding a manometer-style floor-level gauge on a living-room floor

Floor-level readingsReadings taken room by room show where the slab sits high and where it has dropped.

  3. Open graph-paper notebook with a pencil floor-plan sketch of a house outline and dots at the corners

The findings on paperA plan sketch of where each crack and low point is. Ask for it in writing before any quote.

Questions before you ask

Is the foundation inspection really free?

Yes — there is no charge for the inspection and no obligation to hire anyone. You get the measurements, and if it is normal settling, you hear that too.

What happens after I submit the form?

A foundation specialist calls you to schedule a visit. The inspection usually means a walk-around, crack mapping and floor-level readings; ask for the findings in writing.

What should I do before the inspection?

Photograph and date the cracks, note which doors stick and when, and check grading and downspouts. That record makes any assessment — and any later warranty claim — stronger.
